Dadventurous | A Father & Daughter Actual Play D&D Podcast

The Dad

Hi, I’m the Dad!

I am the dungeon master, host, editor, and creator of Dadventurous! I love playing all sorts of RPGs, but Dungeons and Dragons has always had a special place in my life.

I’ve been playing or running campaigns with my friends and co-workers for 20 years.

From junior high, when I was a Warforged fighter with a heart of gold in third edition, to robbing a vampire hideout as a bald guy with a sledgehammer in D20 Modern, then on to running a homebrew campaign in fifth edition called the Realm of Elves with my kiddo when she turned 7.

The creative side of my brain absolutely loves the worlds, characters and stories that come from playing this game and I honestly can’t get enough of it.

When my daughter started to show an interest in D&D, I quickly noticed that very little of it is kid-friendly. In fact, most of the shows out there are geared toward an adult audience.

I always wished there were options for her as the years went on. So, eventually, we just started to play in our own worlds. I have been wanting to create something like Dadventurous for years and have been recording our campaigns with that goal in mind.

Now, finally, we get to start sharing this journey with other people and their kids! So here’s to hoping Dadventurous is as much fun to listen to as it is to play. Enjoy the show!

The Daughter

Hey, I'm the Daughter. I have played Dungeons and Dragons since I was little.

I started out young by playing other RPG's with my dad, like No Thank You Evil, which is basically D&D for beginners and younger players. We also have been recording our D&D games for a few years.

I'm the player for this campaign, but I may get to DM in the future. Rangers and druids are my favorite classes to play for D&D, with the occasional rogue thrown in.

At school, I run a D&D club, where I run short campaigns that are about two days long for middle-schoolers who don't have much experience playing. We also teach new players how to play the game.

The Young Adventurer's Guides for D&D are great introductory books for kids. They don't have stats, but they talk a lot about the lore of the fantasy worlds, which can help interest people in the game.

These have helped me with story ideas and character-building for my own adventures.

Outside of Dungeons and Dragons, I like to write, draw, read fantasy books, and play video games. I hope you enjoy Dadventurous!
